The children's choir looks back on a history of over fifty years. It is one of the best-known and most successful children's choirs in Germany. Currently, around 140 children sing in the choir's various formations. Joint concerts with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra support the ongoing professional work with the children and contribute to a diverse musical spectrum. The repertoire of the Philharmonic Children's Choir includes works from the Renaissance to the 21st century and is constantly being expanded.
In autumn 2019, the Philharmonic Children's Choir travelled to the USA and Canada under the motto 'Many Voices - One World' to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Radio, film and television productions as well as numerous CD recordings round off the choir's diverse activities.
The Philharmonic Children's Choir has won several awards at national and international competitions.
In its hometown of Dresden, it hosts the 'International Children's Choir Festival', which takes place every two years.
The Philharmonic Children's Choir offers free musical training for interested children. We accept children from the age of 5 into our training groups and train them in the subjects of music theory, rhythm/movement, choral singing and voice training until they enter the children's choir. At the end of each school year, all colleagues of the Philharmonic Children's Choir discuss when a child can move from one training group to the next.
All rehearsals take place in the rooms of the Dresden Philharmonic in the Kulturpalast.
