About the Concert

Duration: approx. 1 hr 30 mins without intermission

The Taiwan Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the most excellent ensembles in its region, nurturing both Western traditions and its own music. This is reflected in the programme that will be experienced at the Culture Palace: Yuan-Chen Li's "Tao in Meinong" refers to a rural area in southern Taiwan and to Daoist concepts of balance and natural flow. The music moves between cultural influences and sonic restraint. For the second part of the concert, the orchestra has selected one of the most famous works of Western music: Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 stands, like few other works of classical music, for the European tradition on one hand, and on the other hand for the global and unifying spirit of humanity and mutual respect. Together with choirs from Dresden, the concert thus becomes a symbol of the power of music in general.

They give concerts with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of the respective chief and guest conductors, collaborate with other choirs and orchestras and perform a cappella programs in and outside of Dresden.
