He is also referred to as an "organ influencer," and indeed, 45,000 followers on Instagram is quite impressive for someone who plays such a seemingly old-fashioned instrument. He himself doesn't like to hear that: "The organ produces sounds that are newer than ever," he says, pointing out film composers who have written for his instrument, just think of "Interstellar." However, Jan Liebermann cannot be reduced to film music, especially since his invitation to the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the 20-year-old has been considered a new young star on the organ. He impresses not only with artistic seriousness but is also known for his ability to play from memory, a rarity for such a complex instrument like the organ. Here at the Kulturpalast, he presents himself with a program of "classics," starting with Bach's Passacaglia in C minor and ending with Liszt's famous Fantasy and Fugue on "Ad nos, ad salutarem undam."
